Re: Blackstar HT-5 review

Don't go the combo if you want something for jams. Get the head and probably a 2x12 speaker cabinet.

Tube life? Not sure in this amp. I'd be guessing you'd get a year or two out of them on average at least.

Re: Blackstar HT-5 review

I've written up a fairly comprehensive review of the HT-5 head now, and published it on my blog: http://lonephantom.wordpress.com/200...a-full-review/

I'm hoping to do some samples using the speaker emulator shortly when I have a little time.

thanks for taking the time to do this review after having it at home. i cant wait to get this little head. i still dont know why some people are bashing it? i think its solely because of the price. they are probably like its 299 so it must be crap.

Re: Blackstar HT-5 review

Do you know if a Orange PPC 112 is a good match for the Blackstar HT-5?

I just want something to play at home.
In the future, I want to buy a digitech whammy, boss digital delay, etc...

By the way, I have a ESP LTD EC-1000 DELUXE with EMG pickups.

Thanks!

Definitely! Orange make nice cabs, plus I think the Vintage 30 speaker will be the perfect match for the HT-5.

Stick the Whammy up front and the delay in the loop and you're good to go.

Oh rather than the Boss Digital Delay check out the Digitech Hardwire one. It has more types of delays on tap, plus a looper feature. Sounds great too!

Re: Blackstar HT-5 review

One doubt:

If instead of buying the PPC112 (1x12), what difference in sound should I expect if a choosen a Framus FR212?

Thanks.

Re: Blackstar HT-5 review

Well from what I've read, the Framus is using the same Celestion Vintage 30 speakers, and the cab can be closed back or open back, so it will probably have a similar tone to the Orange cab, albeit bigger and fuller as there are 2 speakers, plus you have the flexibility of changing from closed to open back.

If you can afford it, I'd go with the Framus.

Re: Blackstar HT-5 review

I just picked up the HT-5HR, the new HT-5 head with Reverb which is an update to the original. I have a HT-110 on order also as I wanted less volume. I am thinking of picking up a HT-112 as a variation in volume and possibly tone. Anybody have any comments on this?

I have a Marshall JCM 900 head and Quad, JCM 800 head, Laney LC30II Combo and a Marshall MG15 Micro Stack which I use as a practice amp so I don't want something with massive volume.

I wanted something that I could use for messing around on at bedroom volumes with a nice warm tone and also something for recording.

So far I have tried the head through my Marshall 10" speakers and it sounds pretty darn good - it breaks up just nicely which is exactly what I wanted.

I have been really impressed with how responsive the controls are and there is plenty of Reverb to dial in. I have quite made up my mind yet on the ISF dial - will see how it goes.

I am also pretty impressed with the build quality - everything is neat and well put together.

Overall, very happy with the purchase and I look forward to trying it with the cabinet.

Sounds good. I'd love to upgrade to the new model for the hell of it.

Re: Blackstar HT-5 review

What I would love to know is how the HT-5 sounds through the HT408 cab. That's the cab with the 4 8" speakers.

Re: Blackstar HT-5 review

I just saw the view count on this thread 17,000 views. Is that correct? If so WOW! This is a popular little amp.
