Blown amp in Event 20/20/bas monitors

I bought a pair of Event 20/20/bas (biamplified) monitors recently for my small basement studio. After only about 40 days, the monitor one day began to pop and hiss for a period of about 10 seconds. After the popping subsided, the monitor no longer functioned properly. When turned on, the monitor simply hissed but wouldn't produce any other sound.

A customer service rep at Event indicated that the amplifier in this monitor was blown.

I just shipped the monitor to one of their authorized repair centers in Chicago who told me on the phone yesterday that I'm looking at least two weeks repair time - more if additional parts are required.

Anyone else have a similar problem with Event biamplified monitors? Hope this was just a fluke.

Bummer Randy, sorry to hear that...I have always heard that Event stuff was solid, but you never know. Even the best manufacturing processes can fail every now and then. Hope your repair goes quickly.

I've blown the tweeters out of mine TWICE.

In each speaker.

That's a pisser when it takes them forever to send a replacement. (And an even bigger pisser when you pay $48 to have one shipped to them Airborne Express cuz they said they'd use the SAME SHIPPING METHOD to send it back to me -- then they turn around and send it UPS ground.)

The first two were both my fault - letting uninformed people plug in phantom powered mics and/or active instruments without having the channels muted.

Since then, tho, the tweeters have simply degraded and they haven't ever been hit with any hard pops. My right one is gone (I verify my mixes on a secondary set of speakers) and the left one is buzzy/clicky...

I think my warranty is expired, and I've simply not had the cash to buy the replacement drivers, but I think they're not really that much.
