Blues Jr. For Instrumental?

I'm looking for a small amp to do like Satch and a bit heavier instrumental work. How would like a 15watt Fender do with some pedals? I love Fender cleans which is why I'm looking at them.

Re: Blues Jr. For Instrumental?

Won't do. Although Fender cleans are amazing, they don't have a good drive channel, and if you add pedals, imho it sounds a little over-processed, especially with a Fender.

I've got the Blues Deluxe (40 watt tweed version of the blues junior), and I love it to death. I bought it knowing I wouldn't play metal on it, and the only distortion(-ish) pedal I'll be using at all is a Keeley modified Blues Driver that's coming in the mail in a couple of days.

If you really want a small tube amp, check out the Peavey Mini Colossal.

It'll be fine, just put a good distortion/OD in front of it. One of my favorite amps I ever had was a 15 watt 1965 Fender Princeton that was modded to have a drive channel instead of the tremolo circuit. With an OD in front of it, it was perfect.

Re: Blues Jr. For Instrumental?

I used to play a Blues Jr with a Boss SD-2 Dual Overdrive for any distortion. I thought it sounded great for just about anything, and at one point I was playing a JS90th through it (the rest of the time it was a Strat Plus w/Lace Sensors).
