I never met a Bose product I didn't think was overhyped & overpriced. Having said that, even if they're only worth half their price you got a steal!

Yea, since I paid $0, I'm sure they'll be worth way more than I paid for them I've got a set of headphones I got for $50 6 years ago and they're amazing, so I couldn't justify spending $150 on a set of headphones unless they offered something really amazing.

But since I won these in a contest (pretty sure anyways, it was a contest on Much Music that I e-mailed the answer into, and all they said was "Aaron from London", which could be me, or anyone named Aaron or Erin who lives in London, or I mis-heard and they said Karen or Darren or something )

The only Bose headphones (or Bose product, for that matter) i'd buy would be the QuietComfort headphones. Even those i think are probably only worth half of what they charge. If i were still travelling as much as i did last year, i'd probably have a pair. I've always found Bose stuff to be overhyped and overpriced as well, and not terribly good in the sound department.

So the general idea is that I may have just gotten a nice, overpriced, but decent sounding set of headphones for free?

And the funny thing is, I wasn't going to bother because I figured I never win anything, but I decided to anyways, cuz I'd definitely not win if I didn't even enter that intensely easy contest

One thing I've found about Bose is that they design and build for listener enjoyment. So their product delivers an "enhanced" result to the listener. That usually (or always) translates into being poor product for referencing. So you can use them to mix your recordings but only if you're cross-referencing with something that is "regular" even if it's in the $30-$40 range. But your effects placement and amount will probably be skewed, as will your stereo image. I wouldn't trust them to be my "studio" pair unless it's just so that tracking and basic processing functions were "easy on the ears" and you always switched them out for referencing.

I wouldn't use them, but if they're free they'll make a nice gift to a friend.

I have to agree with the concensus that you got a kewl freebie.
That said, there is a little saying about Bose stuff:
Bose, all highs, all lows. You'll never see a frequency spectrum graph detailing what their speakers produce, as they don't want that huge valley of no midrange out in the open.

Much hype about nada.

Ayway, congrats, just goes to show, you get what you pay for
