Boss CH-1 Super Chorus

Anyone with info on this pedal?

I'm wanting to build a small pedal set up, mainly for clean sounding chilled out mellow music. Currently I use an FX board and I like the chorus sound it gives, but I want to make a seperate stomp box option too.

I'm thinking of getting a delay pedal to the line up (probably Boss DD3) plus i have a Boss CS-1 sustain/compressor already.

Does anyone have any feedback on this pedal? I'm wanting individual pedals for quick changes and ease of turning pedals on and off.

Also out of curiosity what is the chorus ensemble CE-5 like??

cheers

Rich

Re: Boss CH-1 Super Chorus

Just noticed it has 2 outputs (2 amps i guess) is there a pedal that can be used for 1 amp thats a single amp? Or can this be used for that too just using output A?

Re: Boss CH-1 Super Chorus

I've had a CH-1 in my pedal board for about 3 months now, and it's a really sweet pedal. I use it for all clean tones and solos - you can dial up a very subtle chorus or you can color your tone with a rich chorus.

Personally I don't like to overdo it so the CH-1 is good enough for mildly coloring the sound for either a warm or bright chorus effect. Check out the Boss sound demos to hear the differences between the CH-1 and CE-5.

The dual outputs are for stereo mode... if you're using a single amp, just use the mono output.

And I use a Digitech Digidelay which I liked better than a DD-3, so you might want to try both before you decide on that.

There's also Digitech XMC Multi Chorus for around the same price that mentions is fine for mono. Anyone have info on whether this is good or not?

Re: Boss CH-1 Super Chorus

thanks axemanrio, yeah i love the chorus sound on clean set up. I'll go with that Boss then.
I dont like to overdo it too, the delay pedal is just for doing tracks like satriani's midnight and such. Usually on my FX board for clean sound its pretty much just chorus and a bit of reverb.

Re: Boss CH-1 Super Chorus

LOL I didn't know that was the model number but that's the one I use, and I think the only Digitech delay pedal currently in production. Modes 2 and 5 are all I ever use, and you can also tap in your tempo just like the DD-6.

Re: Boss CH-1 Super Chorus

cheers, after looking through them i realised there was only one with big bold letters on it saying 'DigiDelay' lol. Ah cool so you can tap in your own tempo, i read that on the DD6 model but theres quite a price jump to that model.

Re: Boss CH-1 Super Chorus

Yeah, the DD-6 is quite pricey... I got the Digidelay off the bay for £56. Check your PM btw.

Re: Boss CH-1 Super Chorus

I find that the CH-1 is more of a natural / warm simulation. Where as the CE-5 is for a full on in your face chorus(very loud, clear and defined). I chose my CH-1 over the CE-5 because i don't think a chorus should be a in-your-face effect.

Re: Boss CH-1 Super Chorus

The Ibanez DE7 is a better sounding unit than the DD6. It is less reliable though. Mine's broken down a couple of times, but I've always been able to fix it. It's cheaper too.

Re: Boss CH-1 Super Chorus

nice collection, i saw them about a year ago in a shop in Newcastle and thought 'I gotta get one', then i saw the price so i thought 'i gotta get one, but not right now!'

Anyway since the JS a few month ago I've been meaning to get one and just happened to see it on the same site as the pedals.
