Boss DD3 sounds weird with distortion

Hi
So I got my boss dd3 delay pedal recently and I'm not all that happy with it.

Basically it sounds great with a clean tone but when I switch to my lead sound everything sounds a mess!

I have to have the effect level and feedback really low to avoid this, but then the delay is almost inaudible.

Is this a common complaint?
Any advice?

I've never owned a delay pedal before as I always used MultiFX but thought the Boss was a good pedal - now I'm not too sure.

Perhaps analogue delay is the way to go...?

Thanks for any help...

How are you using it? If it is in front of an amp, and your lead sound is the amp's overdrive, then it will sound bad. Delays really need to go after distortions and overdrives, so either after your pedal or in the effects loop of your amp.

Re: Boss DD3 sounds weird with distortion

Hi thanks a lot for you reply that's made me think!
I feel really stupid now for not trying some other combinations.

What I have been running is: Guitar - whammy pedal - wah - delay - drive - Amp

I can't believe I didn't think of testing out a few other combinations before posting here!
It really has been ages since I've toyed with stomp boxes and I'd forgotten the basics!

I'm gonna try putting the delay last and see how that goes.

Well after swapping the delay and the distortion around it sounds sooooo much better!
