boss delay pedal :X

My teacher lent me his boss delay pedal, but there are 2 problems:

1. Where the 9v battery goes, the cable that it plugs into, one of the sockets is faulty and has come off. Are these easy to replace or do I need to get somebody who knows what they are doing? ( I can solder and follow plans easily)

2. I ran the pedal using a 9v power pack. Problem is the pedal works, but no delay is used :S

When I click it on it makes a slight hum (as most pedals would I assume) but it doesnt get any delay added to the guitar signal. Does this mean there could be a problem with the pedal itself>?

cheers

The battery plug I think can be replaced pretty easily if you know where to solder it on.I think there sold at radioshack. As for the pedal having no delay, it seems like somethings really wrong. If you know how to fix it you can try but it might be safer to let someone who knows what there doing fix it.

If it's a boss it might still have a warranty. Same thing happened when I borrowed a band mates Boss MT-2 and it fried in my hands so I ended up replacing it for him, since there was some battery issue and Boss's warranty doesn't cover battery failure. I wouldn't try to fix it yourself beyond replacing the battery hook-up, even at that if it's under warranty still that might send up a red flag for when your teacher tries to get it fixed. Best of luck to you.
