Boss DS-1 - The differences......

I can't find it now but I was looking at a thread discussing the two different models (ok manufacturing facilitys) Of the DS-1 peddle...... Korea vs. Japan I think..

One is the old and the better of the two.......

My question is simply how do you know where your peddle was made? Is it stamped or painted somewhere on it " made in Japan" or " made in Korea" somewhere?

I don't currently own one but am always looking for bargins........

So Rich, as the owner of both models - how much difference is really between them, or is it just hype?

I lost my old DS1 in a car crash. Bout the Tai for $35 from Sam Ash. Missed my old one enough to spend $65 on the Japanese one. That answer your question?

Hey Rich, you understand a lot about gear. So, answer me one question: today, are all BOSS pedals made in Taiwan? Just curious, because I have only Japanese made ones here (unfortunately I had to sell my old DS-1 to buy my original TS-9...).

Thanks!

I am absolutely not a gear head! I'm under the impression all BOSS pedals are made in Taiwan now though, I may be wrong, won't be the last time

Yep, all recent Boss pedals are made in Taiwan and the old Japanese made DS-1's smoke the new ones. The new ones sound too processed. Don't get me wrong, they are a great distortion pedal but they lack a certian "warmth" that the Jap ones have...

Wherever you can find used stuff for sale. But you have to ask where it was made, almost nobody advertises that.

Hahahah! She was hobbling out because of all the drugs you used to get her in the.......(Sorry! Couldn't resist!)

I had a Taiwan DS-1 a few years ago, and it collected dust, so I sold it. Last September I got a Japan made DS-1 and I use it as a boost for my solo's, and for a small rig.

The gain is thick enough and plenty enough to use it for small stuff, or full on, it's a great pedal.

Rich is the biggest gear-head, everyone knows the size of your amp shows the amount of your gear-lust!!!
