Boss GT - 10 vs. Line 6 POD X3 Live
I looked for some pedals and the guys here on jemsite recomended me some really nice pedals but they are not available in Romania, unfortunatelly. Also there are many pedals that sound good on one amp and very bad on another amp.
This is why I decided to go for a
processor
. I'd have everything I need in one box. I narrowed my reaserch to 2 procesors. One is made by Line 6 while the other one is made by Boss. My main issues are sustain and warm sounds. My preferences favours the Boss GT - 10 but I want to know some other opinions to be sure I buy the best one.
I have read some reviews where some people who own the Line 6
POD X3 Live
complained about malfunctions from Line 6 POD X3 Live. This is one reason I am tempted to go for the Boss GT - 10. On the other hand the Line 6 seems to have better options on amps and cabinets.
Want to know more about them from people who worked with these babies or have some experience in guitar processors.
Anyway this will be my first guitar processor.

Re: Boss GT - 10 vs. Line 6 POD X3 Live
I think generally the
Line 6
units have better amp models, but the
Boss
effects are better.
I have a GT8 plugged into a Laney Lionheart using the 4 cable method so don't use the GT8 amp models much. It works well for me

Thanks for the advice. I love amps with tubes, I love pedals with tubesand now I love processors with tubes. Also that whamy pedal is awesome. I couldn't believe it. It's a pedal that works both vertically and horizontally.

Yeah you might wanna give that a try
It's awesome in the studio and live, don't take my word for it, you need to try for yourself, zoom products are getting better just watch out for the tube control turn it too much and your sound will break up.

The GT has the latching function that will change the channels on your amp. That may be the tipping point for you. I wish My Line6 had that. When you have to change patches and channels at the same time, it's tough when you have to hit two pedals instead of one. That said, I have the XT live, and there's nothing I don't like about it. It's dependable, had it for years. And to be perfectly honest, it sounds better through my PA than my JSX mic'd. Go figure.

Personally it seemed to me really easy to work with Boss GT - 10. The Line 6 POD X3 Live was a bit scary to me at the begining and maybe I am traumatized now. LOL! I'm joking. I read some reviews and it seem like some people had some problems with that processor (Line6 POD X3 Live). Anyway the Boss GT - 10 is my favourite. I just wanted to see if there is anything bad I don't know about it.
Also now I seen one more processor that tempts me. The Zoom G9.2tt is really awesome. I'd have to compare that one to the
GT-10
. The fact that Zoom G9.2tt has tubes makes me think twice. Also that pedal working two directions just amazed me.
Thanks!

All three processors are available in Romania but I love anything that uses tubes.
The Zoom G9.2tt is my favourite now because it has 2 tubes.

Re: Boss GT - 10 vs. Line 6 POD X3 Live
I already have Zoom g9 twin tube. It sounds great, and the expression pedal has many variations, you can actually control your patch like the amount of delay or distortion even when you are on stage. With the sounds it creates, all its features, the CUBASE LE, all in all, It is very good. But, i must say that my Zoom G9's solid bank buttons is already malfunctioning. I dont know if it was me or just by luck it breaks. The problem is inside that button, the button doesnt reach the clicker on it so you must press harder just to activate it.
NOW!
I wanna try Boss GT10 for some reasons. 1st i wanna know the difference of their pre amps. As far as I know, Boss is one the most respective and the most chosen products. As im watching its demo with Rob Marcelo, I wanna try its complexity all the options with regards to the attitude of your sound going to be. Warm or even for the heavy metal.
Im planning on selling my ZOOM for this BOSS gt10.
but still im thinking over and over it...

Re: Boss GT - 10 vs. Line 6 POD X3 Live
Obviously its a high end all in one processor, so there is a learning curve involved. But right out of the box its very easy to just start creating sounds. Its seems really sturdy, and I love the blue back lit screen... I plug it into my laptop and can manage all the patches and even download other users patches right on to my gt10... but im sure most of them do that...
anyways the boss works for me.... and if you buy it, your not going to regret it..

Re: Boss GT - 10 vs. Line 6 POD X3 Live
I am currently testing the X3 Live and so far I think it is very nice. The amp modells are IMHO much better than the GT-10 and also the usability is very very good on the X3.
Also IMHO, both are better than the much more expensive Eleven Rack.
However I have not yet testet the Zoom, would love to get my hands on one, but my local shops do not have them.

My GT-10 is plugged with the 4 cables method, but it's the opposite, I don't use my amp's settings, it cleaner than the clean channel if you will.. everything from volume to eq is controlled by the GT.
Even if the volume knob is down on the amp, I can go full blast with the volume on the gt-10 and touching the knobs on the amp won't change anything.
Did you try that way ?
edit: And to ALL of you who want to try the GT-10. You've got to try it the way I say, thus the amp becomes only a power-amp and has no function in altering the sound, as not a pre-amp anymore but just a power amp.
So when you try the amp models, cabs sizes and stuff, you get the real sound.
It is just NOT RIGHT to plug your GT-10 on you clean channel of the amp... it's like testing a pre-amp hooked to another pre-amp... (fail)

gt10 has the best amp simulation ever.
Really better than pods, zoom and digitech stuff, plus you got all boss pedals.
