It's a great box, but the presets aren't my favorites. *Programming is also more complicated than average. *Take your time, go thru the manual...you will be rewarded. ;-)

I have one too, what are you using it for? *It is definitely a Swiss Army knife so it does take some digging through the manual and playing with parameters. *I use mine for amp models to record direct and for effects (without amp models) in the effects loop of my amp or on the board. * *

Let me know what you are trying to get out of it and I'll try to help you out.

I had one for about 18 months and i loved it... extraordinarily versatile little box, but you do have to dig through the menus a bit. The presets aren't bad, but with a bit of tweaking, they can be made to sound much better. The possibilities with the VF-1 are almost endless, and it's especially nice that you can change the order of the effects in the chain.

I recently traded my VF-1 in and got a GT-6... not quite as powerful, but i really needed a pedalboard, and the GT-6 has a few more amp models. I'm very pleased so far.

I use the VF-1 for recording and it works well. *It does take some tweaking.

One thing to make sure of with any of the BOSS modeling products is to make sure you go into the master settings and use the appropriate profile for your output. (combo, stack, line out, etc.) This makes a HUGE difference in the overall tone of the unit.

The manual is pretty good... it's a worthwhile read if you haven't gone through it yet, and might help you get past some stumbling blocks if you're just poking your way around the patches.

* Hello rgr

I'm looking for some presets for those Strat sounds
Clean and slightly distorted...
There is also a huge difference in pickup selection
I've got a JEM777 (HSH ofcourse) so you can't
use your preset based on pickup selection 2 , on the
first position... know what I mean
I really want that tender surrender sound or SRV sound..
Something like that... and ofcourse all kind of other
sounds are welcome too...
I know it will take some time to email a preset
but i would really appreciate it...

Thanx

Zenabi (Stefan)

Try a Fender Twin combo sound with a Tube Screamer distortion in front of it. Play with the gain settings on both the amp model and the distortion, to get the right amount of "grit" that you're looking for.

You'll probably appreciate it more if you start tweaking the sounds yourself. Just "dialing in" somebody else's patch can't be very satisfying.

I have a patch that I wrote for Sisters, it is pretty close. *It uses the Fender Twin model, if I get a chance I'll e-mail the settings to you tomorrow, don't have time to look them up tonight.

I'll try to post a few more this weekend. *I've never been that thrilled with the factory presets so I write all the ones I use.
