Bugera vs. HT-5

ok so, i was set on an HT-5, just surfing around for the right price really, and i came across the Behringer Bugera 333 / 333XL, which has de-railed my certainty.

so i was wondering if you guys could help me decide. I know the HT-5 is highly recommended, great for nice distortion and lead sounds at low volume, but how does the Bugera compare? Being a much higher wattage, i would assume it's low-level tones are fairly lousy... anybody got any experience with these amps?

the 333/333XL combo's run about the same as an HT-5 head + a cheapy 2x12 cab would, so i think its a fair comparison.

what i wanna know is, how do the metal / lead tones compare, and how loud do they need to go to get the awesomeness out?

thanks everyone!

Re: Bugera vs. HT-5

I'd go Blackstar over Bugera any day. Especially now that the HT series has been extended to more models, from 20 watts to 100 watts.

Versatile as hell, and so very nicely made.

Not such a useful post, given that it costs over twice as much as the two amps i mentioned.

but the problem there is that the next step up from HT-5 (HT-studio 20) would stretch the high end of my budget.
1)it only has 1x12 speakers, compared the the bugera 333xl's 2x12
2)the effects loop has just one level control, the bugera's has 2 - one for send and one for return
3)the HT-studio 20 only has 2 channels, the Bugera has three, plus the included foot switch has an effects loop switch as well
4)Bugera has a noise gate
5)Bugera has 4ohm output aswell as 8 and 16, where the HT-studio 20 only has 8 and 16

Im just saying on paper the Bugera seems to win hands down, given that it's £50 cheaper.

both of these amps are the limit of my budget, and if i went for blackstar, im not even sure i'd choose the ht-studio 20 over the ht-5 anyway... hmm.

Re: Bugera vs. HT-5

i've just realised the bugera has no headphone socket, wheras the blackstars do. so the main question is how the bugera sounds at bedroom volumes. hmm...

Bugera's have a bit of a reputation for...breaking. Low quality parts and all that jazz. I'd recommend the HT.

Re: Bugera vs. HT-5

I know it's a bit more for the Blackstar, but I would recommend that over the Bugera. Having played both, the HT-5 had better tones. I've also heard the reputation that Bugera has for build quality is not so good.

Re: Bugera vs. HT-5

so if i get the HT-5 combo? then if/when i need the extra volume, i can get a 1x12 extension cab.

or is it worth going for the HT-5 head?

Again like we've already talked about in threads you have previously posted, get the head and a 1x12 cab.

Re: Bugera vs. HT-5

You will be. It's a sweet little amp, especially if you're after beasty distortions at reasonable volumes with all the bells and whistles of a much more expensive amp.
