building the church effect for tapping

im gonna play this song live with my band

the tapping sounds weak without a keyboarder or some kind of synth effect

im workin on finding a keyboarder but are there any good cheap synth effect pedals i could get to make that sound

Re: building the church effect for tapping

I used a Boss GT-8 with pitch shifting (up an octave), chorus, flanging, and a very quick delay when I played it at Jemfest last year. It wasn't the same sound but it had enough of the same vibe that I got away with it.

Re: building the church effect for tapping

Yeah, what was mentioned above would probably work, but I think phase would work better than flanger, the phase gives more of the vowel wah-like quality as opposed to a flanger giving you the jet effect... or maybe not, I'd have to A-B it. The octave probably helps a lot, and the chorus would make it sound synth-y enough. Oh, and you can't forget the distortion.

A light delay is nice too, but then again I'm a delay fanatic so I won't go into detail on that...

He uses a MIDI pickup and a synthesizer.

Now that I think about it, I may have mixed in a little envelope filter. I'll have to check my GT-8 - I think I still have the patch.

Re: building the church effect for tapping

I think a stereo chorus with a ds1 added to the lead channel would work
