cable tricks - hmmm im stuck here

there is a trick i believe invloving balanced to unbalanced cable runs that involves inserting a 100M ohm resistor into the scheme to remove hum

i was just wondering what rating resistor to use, looking on rs i can get them between 0125 - 0.6W

i was wondering if anyone knew (i thought the sound engineer in particular might)

100 ohms should work, wattage shouldn't matter much - wire it in series with the sheild...

hmmm im a bit new to this kinda 'tomfollery' - i thought 100M was 100 ohms ?

whenever i have lokked at resitors they tend to have R or K as a surfix

I am getting a bit confused by it all

which one do i want ?

Quick Explanation:

100R = 100ohms (actually, doesn't have the R as suffix i don't think)
100K = 100Kilo-ohms = 100000 ohms
100M = 100000K = 100000000ohms
