Re: CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME BUY AN AMP?

I think im going to buy the 6505+ head with Ruby tubes...whats a good sounding, cheap (300 range cab?) 212 preffered since 412 is too big.. and yea, Martyr Machine I dont think I need a triple rec or any rec. What do you guys think of the 6505+ head, the 5150 head, and the Mode 4 head?

Re: CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME BUY AN AMP?

6505+ is the same as the 5150 II. The Mode 4 is badly overpriced for a hybrid solid state head, I'd get a DSL instead if you're going to pony up that kind of cash.

Word is the Triple Rectifiers are voiced a LITTLE more aggressively than either the Singles or the Duals, but I haven't had enough playtime to say for sure. Either way, there are subtle differences that are probably not entirely due to headroom.

$300 and a bit of luck on Craig's List can snag you a Mesa 2x12 cab, which is about as good as you're likely to get.

Re: CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME BUY AN AMP?

I live in Canada. the Mesa 212 cabs are like 6 000 000 lol. No, there about 500- 600 Can. Theres a Diezel cab for 600 (2x12) i thought about getiing a 5150 or 6505 and getting a marshall MG 412 cab and replacing the speakers with Celestions G12T-100's (all speakers) But since the MG is smaller, I dont want it to be tooo small. Like I want the head to fit on the cab and be in equal length with the cab. I dont want the head to be bigger...

Re: CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME BUY AN AMP?

I was suggesting used, not new - they're something like $499 USD new in the states, too.

I've heard great things about Avatar and Ear Candy cabs, too - they'll be a bit cheaper than Mesa new, but are custom made to your specs.

If you can try a couple different cabs with the head you buy, it might be worthwhile - a caB really can make a big difference.

Stay away from the Marshall TSL stuff--you won't be happy with the tone (or lack thereof).

I had a TSL602 and I dumped it, but kept my DSL401 cuz it just sounds better.

TO RACEREVLON: I thought about getting the DSL 401. How is it? Can you get heavy Distortion from it? Hows the sound?

Re: CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME BUY AN AMP?

Marshall cabs aren't nearly as good as mesa cabs, and I doubt they are putting their best craftsmanship behind something with the JCM 900 name

Go for a Vader cab over a Mesa. It has a tighter and clearer low end.

Ok. Im getting a Peavey XXX Super 40 EFX combo. I decided on this cuz I dont need a fancy amp cuz im still learnign how to play and im not pro and I dont have a band and i only play in my bedroon and i dont gig. (RUN ON SENTENCE LOL) SO...i think it will be good for me. What do you guys think. (It comes with spare 6L6 tubes that have little use on them and it already has Mesa EL 34's installed and its only 300 CANADIAN (270ish US)
