Can someone recommend a good 8/12 track recorder? - Wanting

Hello all -

Looking to get back into recording, and I used to have an old tascam 688 portastudio, but sold it years ago.. I 'd like to get another 8 track (tape or digital) , but have been eyeing the Akai DPS 12 track digital as well. *Was hoping I could get some input from you folks about a good mixer/recorder. *I dont want to spend more than 650$ (pretty limited, i know..)... ny input is appreciated! thanks a lot! *Shawn

Have you checked out any of Roland's VS recorders? *I have an 1880 and love it. *Very versatile for what I do.

Yes, have seen the roland,. but it's a little out of reach $ wise.. thanks tho!

FWIW, I heard an ad a day or so ago, it was either GC or Mars, that said they were blowing out some Korg recording workstations for $599 or $699. *Don't remember which one, probably the D8.

I've been using a Yamaha MD8 (mini disc) with good results. *You might be able to find a used one within your price range.

Ok, i just bought a used (but in excellent condition) akai dps12 for $700 shipped! i think it was a good deal. At least according to what they are going for... so... deal done! thanks for all the input!! shawn
