Carvin Legacy 100W VL212
Only place I can find this in UK is a link from the american Carvin site to a UK supplier, but they charge £950+ where as the US Carvin site pretty much charges that in Dollars (so about £500).
Is there anywhere un UK that does it for a reasonable price, I've done a search on the net and i can only find that one site (guitar lefty site it was called).
Also its looking unlikely if I cant find it on the net, then my local (ish) music shop would highly unlikely stock the legacy, does anyone have much feed back about the amp? (no punn).
(I'm think this amp, with a DS1 ultra boss Keeley and my Jem for my main sound, then using my G9 Zoom for any crazy effects and such).
I'm currently using an old 1993
Peavey Bandit
112 80W as my amp. Set up is for house use only so no need for cab and head suggestions for gigs.
any info would be much appreciated as always

Re: Carvin Legacy 100W VL212
GuitarLefty is actually the only place that i've seen in the UK that stocks Carvin gear.
Nevada Music comes up if you do a search but they never actually have any Carvin gear on their site.
Everything like this is always way more expensive in the UK than it is in the U.S. so even if other places did stock the Legacy combo i doubt if you'd find it any cheaper than £950 anyway.
I'm not a big fan of the Legacy amps anyway and there's a lot of other brands that are a lot more available over here.
You can usually find an item of gear from one of the large German stores that ship cheaply or even for free (Thomann)to the UK but i just checked a few of those and none of them appear to stock Carvin amps either.
Good Luck with the search anyway and sorry i couldn't be of any more help.
EDIT:I just found one place that stocks them in Germany and theirs is 1390 Euros (£970) so it doesn't look like you'll get a better deal than the one you found.
http://www.musik-schmidt.de/osc-schm...o-p-14547.html
The only chance is to find one on E bay but if they're that scarce over here i doubt if they'll come up on E bay very often either.

Re: Carvin Legacy 100W VL212
thanks for taking the time to check that out JTM45.
Yeah I bought a case from Thomann last year, quite speedy and cheap delivery. I looked at the carvin site too, and for international orders it linked me to Guitar Lefty, so it looks like the US doesn't ship. Shame, even if they asked £200 shipping it'd still save a lot of money.

Re: Carvin Legacy 100W VL212
No probs Richard.
I had a bit of spare time on my hands and i'm in the process of building up to a new amp purchase myself so i was looking around anyway.
I see what you mean about the price on the Carvin site. That's a fantastic price.
It's a real shame more amp manufacturers don't use the same system as they do on Marshall amps where you can just select the correct voltage for your country via a simple switch on the rear panel.
If they did that on the Legacy you could get someone in the U.S. to buy the amp at that price and ship it to you.
Saying that though, even if it did cost you £200 to ship the amp (it could be even more with something that heavy) you'd still have the import Tax and Duty (can easily end up being 25% of the price on top for the UK) and you usually get charged a stupid handling fee on top of that again.
You'd be very close if not right at the price you'd pay for the amp over here.
Looks like you're gonna' have to pay £950 or re-consider your choice of amp.
When you think about it though,if that's the amp you really want then £950 isn't really that expensive considering it's the amp and speakers all in one.
Most separate
Amp Heads
would cost you over £1000 in the UK.

Re: Carvin Legacy 100W VL212
have you considered the V3 ?
great amp - 3 channels 2x12...
see guitarlefty - they have it...
alternatively try out a laney amp - great stuff, British and pretty cheap too !

Re: Carvin Legacy 100W VL212
thanks for comments. JTM yeah your right about all the shipping and taxing and the weight of the amp, imagine that going on the post office scales
'that'll be £3000 in stamps, hope your tounges moist!'
Just checked V3 its 1000 dollars on carvin site. though not checked price on left site. i'll pass on the laney i've already got a peavey so it wouldnt be the big step up. my aim is to get a top set up that i'll continue to use, plus thats money i could of saved towards the carvin.
Theres no immediete rush for it, i may put money aside each month so dont feel the dent in the bank so much.

Re: Carvin Legacy 100W VL212
Try phoning NevadaMusic and see if they have anything in stock that isn't listed on their site.
I very nearly bought a Legacy form guitar lefty a while ago, but the guy really didn't seem to want my business. I phoned up, he basically said he couldn't talk at the time, and said he'd phone me back. I don't think he got back in touch with me for about 4 days or so. By which time I'd changed my mind anyway, so his loss
.
NevadaMusic are pretty good though, i got an RG from them a few years ago and they were really helpful.

Re: Carvin Legacy 100W VL212
Rich, have you considered a Laney combo?
The LC-50II 50 watt 1x12 would be a nice alternative to the Carvin. It has 2 independent channels, effects loop and reverb. Add a closed back 1x12 extension and you'll have a mini stack.
The lead channel has a good amount of gain / preamp distortion on tap and the clean channel is superb.

Re: Carvin Legacy 100W VL212
i'll do a search for it screamjem7, i can never get the chance to check them out as music stores around here are limited, back in the 90's there used to be a few desent guitar shops to check stuff out and many a college lesson would be missed
my peavey at the moment has all those features, but with the lack of the shops to try things it'll be hard chance to get to compare. Thats one reason i'm going for the carvin, i may not be able to play like vai but i do like his sound, so having a jem and using the amp he uses should point me in the right direction, of course his talent all the gadgets in between guitar and amp plays a massive factor, but hey if its good enough for him!
Again thanks for the suggestions, i'll do an online search and compare etc.

Re: Carvin Legacy 100W VL212
Keep in mind the new
Marshall JVM
too
. It's a four channel head or combo, and is about the same price as the Legacy.

Yeah, that's where i got mine from. Arrived next day.
I bought the head and im using it with a Mesa (V30's) cabinet at the moment, It's a little bright with the V30's, I imagine it would sound awesome with Greenback's or the speakers in the cabinet.
