Carvin Legacy Amp
i talked to the guys at carvin during the phasing process of greenback to vintage 30. *they said that they had a better response (whatever they meant by response) from the vintage 30. *my guess is that they kept having people blow the 25w greenbacks in the 100w combos, and they grew tired of replacing them. *not sure though. *although, what i did was order one cabinet of each and A/B them for about a week to decide what i wanted, then sent the other back. *well, the one with the vintage 30's went back a week later, but it only took me about 5 minutes to realize that it was not the keeper. *they retain a more similar tone at greater volumes, but to me just sound honky and unnatural. *the greenback, on the other hand, is always smooth and natural sounding and doesnt have that midrange spike that makes me shiver. *the vintage 30's are louder because of that mid spike, but they dont sound very evenly toned to me. *it really depends on what kind of music you play and what kind of tone youre looking for -- if smooth solo tones are the primary objective, id say that the greenback is for you; *but if you want a great rock sound with some crunch, believe it or not, i prefer the gt-75 that comes stock in marshalls. *the vintage 30, to me, is a greenback with too much midrange. *thats all i can think to say at the moment, but if you have any more questions feel free to ask or email me. *
