carvin legacy or carvin v3?

im going to order a new amp from carvin..as i got a carvin credit card.......its going to be either a carvin legacy or the new v3.........im leaning toward the legacy as i like the simplicity and i like the sounds ive heard from it.......

im wondering if you could get the legacy sound from the v3

anybody played threw the v3 yet??......your thoughts are appreciated

Re: carvin legacy or carvin v3?

The Legacy is meant to be leaning more towards the hot-rodded Marshall direction, while the V3 is more of a Mesa-like amp. Or that's at least what I gather. I would go the Legacy route myself.

Re: carvin legacy or carvin v3?

u checked out the V3 demo on the site?

V3 looks like a beast, although it looks funny

Yea i know a guy who played on the legacy, he told me the distorsion was (this is hard to describe) a bit sorta gainy (I think he meant a good gain kinda gets crunchier the more gain u throw on) and he went for a model below it.

Ive also heard Carvin have a few issues, and have been known to break down often.
Best thing you can do is play on both, If ur in AUS i think a shop in victoria has em :P

All I have heard about Carvin is that they are extremely durable and reliable. Btw where in Victoria do you know they have legacy's or V3's?

Re: carvin legacy or carvin v3?

apologies for the wrong state :P

i knew it was either adelaide or victoria :P

Ive heard they have a few problems of a few people who have owned and played on them, one of them being a guy who dealt in them. (Those people who go round to music stores with the catalogues with what to buy etc)

Re: carvin legacy or carvin v3?

There is a guy in Melbourne that sells Carvin amps but only the Belair. I spoke to him a few months ago.

The only way to try a Legacy is to either go to Adelaide or have him send you the legacy for a trial. You pay him for the amp and shipping up front and if you don't like it you send it back and he refunds you the cost of the amp.

I have the same problem with trying out the Framus amps. I want to try the Dragon and the Cobra. I'd have to go to Melbourne to do that. Have you thought of trying Framus amps? You might love the Dragon.

The Peavey one sounds alot better.

One thing about Peavey is their speakers/cabs always sound the best with their gear.
