Carvin TN100 Tone Navigator (Frank Gambale Model)

Does anyone have one of these preamps?
What's your opinion on it? And how does it compare, let's say, to a Line6 Pod?

try going to the Carvin board on http://www.carvin.com/ and run a search. I have a sound sample of someone who plays "Circles" by Joe Satriani on it if anyone is interested.

Well, it turns out I'm about to buy one on ebay, but a sound clip is always nice, since the only one thing I've heard from this preamp was played by frank gambale!

I own a TN100. I love the tone of the thing. Nice and responsive without having tubes. Best thing I added to the rig though was a Boss SD-1 in front of it. I found the TN100 was lacking just a bit of sustain and gain. It just made the preamp come alive and now I am very pleased.

Re: Carvin TN100 Tone Navigator (Frank Gambale Model)

I bought a TN100 & TS100 from Carvin, thought that everything about the TN100 was great except it was lacking the amount of gain that I needed.
It would be perfect for anything except metal really.
It blows the Line 6 Pod Pro away, but doesn't come close to the Pod XT Pro.
<Pod XT Pro is far better at higher gain models>

Though I never used a TN100, the closest other critter to this would probably be a SansAmp PSA-1, (which I've had good experiences with). I'd love to see a comparison of the two...
