me! got one used over a year ago - it's my main gigging and recording amp. i love it :-) mine has EL34s though, not the stock 6L6s.

it's not a balls-to-the-walls gain amp, though - i boost gain w/ a DS-1 for lead and other moments of zen. a very capable amp.

well, i run it thru a carvin c412t 4x12 .. i think it was the stock cab that came w/ it when it was new.

it was the amp replaced by the MTS series .. which are generally more gain-y. this has a very legacy-ish character to it .. especially with EL34s. Needs lots of volume to sound tasty, but that's a tube amp truth As for what it sounds like .. i dunno .. a marshall but a lot tastier? i hate the marshall sound but love this amp .. geez.. maybe try the carvin.com boards for a more subjective opinion?

cool anuj!!! thanks for the info. i've been eyeing on a legacy. i did checked out the legacy demo and the MTS demo but i liked the legacy better. don't know why. i'm aiming for a carvin amp mainly due to the fact that they don't share the same EQ for treb, mid and bass. most marshall do that. its been alot of comparison between the MTS, Valvemaster and also, not to be forgotten, the X-100B models. heard they are pretty good as well. alot of ppl in the carvin.com board mentioned about the lack of gain in the crunch channel. did you run the DS-1 in the effects loop or after the amp's input? should i get a Valvemaster head to go with the Legacy 2x12 cab or get a MTS combo instead? what do you think? i'm trying to strike a balance between a good clean tone and a good gain channel as well. thanks anuj!!! you've been great!!!!
