Cheap Acoustic Suggestions

And by cheap I mean cheap. I'm an electric player and don't care about spending more than 200-250 dollars on an acoustic. Just something to and jam with around the house. Anyone know of a model that will play well and sound OK?

Ibanez
Alverez
Dean
Washburn
Jasmine

Any of these brands 200.00 guitars worth looking at? Thanks

For 200 bucks, I'd see if you can find something with a solid top used. I know it isn't much help but for that price, the quality will be the same regardless of the maker.

I played a 250 Alverez today that was great and a 315.00 Seagull which was a bit more than I planned on spending but sounded great.

For $200.00 bucks just find one that has nice action and is easy to play. Thats all you an ask for for that price.

I have played these a lot, and have had a couple of my students buy them. They are much much better than the price would indicate. I absolutely recommend you demo one yourself.

Re: Cheap Acoustic Suggestions

I agree with smooth55, I would try and find a used solid top. However if you must buy new, I have played a few of those Washburn's a few years ago and they had a nice low action with a nice neck, good finish (given the price) and sounded reasonable for the price.

Re: Cheap Acoustic Suggestions

You will not find a better deal on an acoustic than this: Go to Musicians Friend. Enter item #512725 in the search box. The price is $299.00.

Silver Creek D-160 dreadnaught. Solid spuce top and solid mahogany back and sides. Not laminated plywood. For a limited time they are including a top of the line hardshell case worth $179.

Item 512727 is the same deal, but a T-160 which is the 000 or auditorium sized body.

For $399, you can upgrade either sized guitar to solid rosewood back and sides.
