Cheap Drum Machine for Jamming? (Not home recording)

I'm getting quite annoyed practising with jam tracks, or having to program a drum track into the computer, so I'd like to buy a cheap drum machine.

Basically as long as it sounds 'alright' (I've never heard one which does!), and can be easily programmed to general patterns, I'll be extremely happy.

Any ideas?

Budget is about £100 - £150 ($150 - $220).

The Alesis SR-16 sounds great for the money...should be under your budget, even new. I once had a Boss DR-something (550II?)...pretty good too.

From a few searches of the forum, I spotted the SR-16. Sounds good on paper, but I'd love to hear some samples if someone can point me in the right direction?

Well, have you tried www.fruityloops.com for programming tracks? FruityLoops 3.5 is fairly easy to c reate loops in, and then you justlet it run indefinately, with maybe a synth pad track in the background to give yourself some harmony. You can have an infinite-looped backing done in, say, 5 minutes on that thing. worth a thought...

I would go with a used Yamaha QY70 sequencer. It's got chord progressions and different styles in wich you choose to be accompanied.
