Cheap Strong Clean Amp

I need an amp. One that has good headroom and stays clean with decent power. I don't need it to have a good gain channel but a good clean is a must. Also I don't care if it's tube or solid state and it has to be less that $500. Any reccommendations?

New stuff please, I'll look at the used stuff I can, but remeber i'm in Japan so buying an amp on the bay and having it shipped is probably not going to happen.

I was thinging about a Peavy Bandit 112 or a Peavy studio 112, but it seems that they are made to have good gain channels with the transtube tech. That's okay except I can't see any decent reviews of the clean alone that go beyond "the clean is good."

peavey's good clean amps are their classic series imo. my singer has one (classic 50 2x12) and it sounds great. i will probably pick one up eventually. they are fairly cheap too. the only thing that may not work out for you is the headroom issue as headroom (with a tube amp) is connected with high wattage. i will say it is a pretty loud amp even at low volumes (she usually gets it up to about 3), so maybe that will work for you.

Well here in Japan those are out of my price range at about $700.
