Combo Peavey 5150 212 MKII
Hi!
Does that combo really exist?.. My
local music store
sells it and i wanted to buy the "head" version but i dont want to spend so much money for a Cab. is it exactly the same as the head version? On the Peavey Homepage i never saw anything of it and on harmony central too.

The 5150 combo is not the same as the head. The circuit of the combo version has several differences.

Peavey do not produce a 5150-II combo.
I have owned both the head and combo 5150-I and the combo sounded quite a bit better in my opinion. The special speakers really do work well with the 5150 and the clean channel is also much better on the combo (both are not exactly world class clean though).
The gain channel on the combo also sounded better, had more detail and definition. But ultimately it was wayyyy to noisy for my uses.
It did sound great at bedroom levels, but band levels it just got this high end overtone that I could not get rid off.
Ultimately there are much better amps out there.

Carvin makes some nice 412's that aren't terribly expensive ($400). I've had one for the last 8 years or so with no complaints. In fact, I really like it.
