Cool pedal alert(sorry GP) Ibanez Metal Charger
I have been searching for a very long time for the ultimate distortion box and may have finally found it! I was looking for something to goose the gain on my amp for that little "extra added something" and one that could stand on its own as another option with a clean amp. I have tried the DS-1, Fulltone Fulldrive, Marshall Drivemaster, Ibanez TS-9, TS-10 Classic, Super Tube, L.A. Metal, MXR Dist.+, Chandler Tube Driver, Mesa V-Twin, Dano pedals, all kinds of stuff and have found the Ibanez Metal Charger to be my perfect fit. All of the others seemed too thin sounding while the Charger had the ability to give some really good low end thump and also has a very "smooth" sounding distortion. I am always impressed with the "10" series Ibanez pedals; they seem to be well made and sound really good across the board. If you stumble across a Metal Charger, try it into a clean amp with the "punch" control maxed and the other tone controls and drive at about "7"- I hear that classic hot-rodded Marshall tone loud and clear with my rig(nails the FTLOG tone!). Good stuff and available cheap. I also really like the Super Tube, but not as an "additive", just on its own. Z
