Cornford Hurricane and Barber Directdrive SS

I'm Currently using a Cornford Hurricane and a Barber direct drive SS for live work. My problem is that I cant seem to get the levels between my clean sound and the distorted sound equal. I get the distortion setup ok then the clean sounds really quiet and feeble. I've tried turning the volume control on the distortion pedal down but it seems affect the tone and even then I have to turn it right down to get the clean sound matched.

I had thought of adding a compressor post distortion pedal, but thats not always the kinda sound im going to be wanting...

Any ideas?

Al

Have you tried the Cornford forum? The Hurricane is 20W, right? You may not have enough headroom to be a loud squeaky clean sound.
