Cruise Audio...

Okay... back at the same time (same day, about 10 minutes apart) that Kevan ordered his Cruise, I ordered mine. *Looked like a great amp... and since I was running low on options, I had to at least try it. *So, I ordered it up from Jim at Las Vegas Music and Sound (good guy!)

Well... first of all, UPS lost the amp for about 4 days... brilliant. *It arrived damaged... I've been going through hell ever since, that was back in October. *I have one of my buddies cracking down on these guys, and I finally just wrote in to the Better Business Bureau... here's a copy of my complaint, it states the story in great detail

The following complaint was submitted on 5/1/2001

Problem Date: 10/23/00

Complaint:
I recieved this amp in non-working condition from Las
Vegas Music and Sound via UPS. They claim the amp
was inspected prior to shipment and I believe them.
The problem was minimal/no output from the amplifier
due
to damaged tubes and other internal problems that I am
still uncertain about the specifics of. I immediately
contacted the store and explained my problem. They
called the company. I was hoping to just exchange it
for a
new, working amp. I never heard from the company, even
after personally leaving messages with them. I
eventually took the amp to a local technician for the
repair. This was after about a month or two of trying
to make
things work with the company. He had to spend about 3
weeks trying to get ahold of Cruise to get authorized
for
a warranty repair. He had to spend about and extra 3
weeks to get a schematic from them. I finally got the
amp
back in January. There was output, but there were
problems with hum and the relay system used to switch
channels. Bascially the amp was near unusable because
of these problems. Again I contacted the store. They
spent about 2+ weeks trying to reach the company.
Finally I heard from a man named Lee at Cruise who is
a
sales rep. He said he'd have UPS at my door to get the
amp and they'd replace it free of charge. I never
heard
from him again. About a month later, I again contacted
Jim over at Cruise. He expressed his concern for my
problem and like before, sounded like he wanted to
help. He said he'd get back to me in a few days about
having UPS at my door to get the amp. This was about 3
weeks ago. I have probably made over 40 phone calls
to Cruise, I have not been able to get ahold of Jim
since I last spoke to him.

Desired Settlement: Replacement

Settlement Explanation:
I would like a properly working amp. Both myself and
the company agree that there should be minimal or no
audible hum coming from the amp when plugged into a
properly grounded outlet. We both also agreed that the

delay when switching channels should be minimal (a
matter of miliseconds). The company has said to me
personally at least twice now that they would
repair/replace the amp to my specifications at no cost
to me. If they
can not do so, I would like a refund. However, I would
prefer a working amp in a minimal amount of time, as I
have already spent over 6 months dealing with this
problem on my own.

Cruise Audio...

Little more detail...

The hum was LOUD, on ALL channels. *It is basically like this: *Whatever the volume (db) of the guitar being output... there is an equal volume of hum.

The amp uses relay signals for channel switching... there should be a delay of a few miliseconds when you switch channels. *With my amp, there is about a 0.5 second delay of no sound at all. *This is followed by about an aditional 1 second of time where the new channel has to "warm up" to full volume... similar to when you first turn on a tube amp.

After I got the amp back from the tech, in January, I blew a fuse... but since there were already all those problems... I didn't bother to even replace it, so the amp is completely unusable right now. *Still waiting to hear from Cruise...
