Crybaby owners.

Hey.

I have a GCB-95F, the Classic Crybaby with Fasel.

Its pretty cool, but it has a noisy treble end.

Is there anything I can do to kill the noise? (and NO noise supressors, thats just a bandaid, that just covers the symptoms, not the problem)

Anybody else have a Crybaby (doesnt matter what model, just any Dunlop wah) with a noisey treble end?

Any suggestions you want to throw out would be good. Other brands as well.

Thanks!

(No Morleys, Ive owned two, including a Bad Horsie, and I dont care for them much.)

Re: Crybaby owners.

I have an original model crybaby, and yes, when I use it as a filter in the toe position it gets fuzz noise in the back. I'm not sure if this is the nature of the pedal or what, but i know that it does do a little tone-sucking, even when off, and that Robert Keeley does a modification to true bypass it, so if it bothers you, you might want to scope him out. I own a Cry Baby from Hell and the 535q. Depending on the q settings on each, they CAN have a noisy toe end, but only on the highest knob settings.

Re: Crybaby owners.

i just true bypass modded my own crybaby and i highly reccomend it, it's very easy to do if you have a tiny bit of soldering experience, or someone that can do it for you

and cost me only a couple of dollars

i also added an on off switch for the battery so i don't have to unplug leads and i added a 'vocal' mod which many ppl do that gives you a nicer 'wah wah' sound, way more vocal

all the info i needed except the on/off switch mod was found here

Re: Crybaby owners.

Rob Keeley offers some great worth paying for mods but for true bypass and the vocal mod (and an internal volume trim) he charges $70US
which is a fine price to have done but it's really one ppl should know they can do themselves..

the bypass and vocal mod are not hard especially the vocal mod which is simply replacing 1 single resistor and both will cost you maybe $3US to do yourself

Apologies to impose on the thread, but I am thinking of getting a 535Q for the volume boost for soloing. Do you find it sufficiant enough as a boost for soloing?
