D'addario Quality

Any regular D'addario user can see the discoloration in the ball ends. Not that it affects tone, feel, or longitivity... Well, not that it matters at all . Just thought I'd share.

Re: D'addario Quality

You're right! Geez, it's horrible how they start off nice and clean brass, and gradually turn purple, green, then blue as they rust!

Re: D'addario Quality

The picture also looks crappy b/c there's not enough resolution coming from that camera.

Re: D'addario Quality

Well maybe if target had hired me I would have a better camera.

Did I make it clear these are from new strings?

Re: D'addario Quality

The A string is the most noticably discoloured. It's brown... when its supposed to be red. The G string is very dark green, as opposed to the brightish green it's supposed to be.

Guess that means I'm entitled to apologize for bad pictures.

Re: D'addario Quality

Flippancy from the intial post aside, are you sure they're "discolored" and not simply a different color? I mean, D'Addario seals the things at the factory, and paint doesn't really oxidize anyway.

First job... and they just fired someone too. It's a super target... I'll reapply at the end of the month.

Good point. It was just a pleasant surprise, that's all.

Re: D'addario Quality

I noticed that d'addario have started using a metallic type of paint for their ball ends now, making the colour less bright. I think it looks quite snazzy. Haven't noticed a change at all in string quality though. Still sound the best.
