Dammit I'm indecisive.... - which way to go????

Heres the score:

I'm now on easter holidays from school...

I was gonna do my pickup job myself over the hols but with revision (for my GCSE terminal exams) it does'nt look like ill be able to have the time (especially if I ****
up) therefore I'm stuck: so I came up with a second idea:

Should I:

Buy a DS-1 and Crybaby wah and have some change in my pocket (bare in mind it's my G/f's birthday soon )

-or-

should i just go for it and do my P/u job...

oh, BTW, I use a fender champ crappy amp (without much gain) and getting a larger one doesnt look like its on the cards just yet... Which will get me a satchy tone quicker pedals or pickups??? hmm...

cheers

Kevin

imho pickups are the way to go, whats the sense of feeding a smorgesboard of pedals if your tone is lack luster to begin with. I say go for the pickups Dimarzio Fred in the bridge and PAF Pro in the neck satch's pickup combination.

My pathetic two cents

Wouldn't that new amp come that much faster if you saved that cash and started an amp fund? I know this is the least fun at the moment but if you want a Satch-like tone you really need to upgrade the heart of your tone (gear-wise).

* Neither pickups nor pedals are likely to make you happy until you get nice amplified tone happening. Also, how will you know what accessories you'll need to shape your sound (pickups, pedals, etc...) until you *get* your sound?
