Re: DC resistance?

Well to be as less confusing as possible, dc resistance is determined by the amount of windings on the pickup and the wire gauge. Generally higher resistance value (ohms) will make a pickup more powerful and lower resistance will make the pickup lower powered.

But with DiMarzio's i just usually look at the mV reading to decide if i want it and where.

Re: DC resistance?

That is a general rule, but often broken, a Super Distortion is 13.68K but is higher output than a Breed or a TZ both of which are 17K - 18K(?). Another general rule is that the higher the resistance, the less bright it is, but again, not always true.

See if this helps some: http://www.billlawrence.com/Pages/Pi...y/Contents.htm.

Re: DC resistance?

Nope, humbuckers have 2 coils wired in series but wrapped in opposite directions so the induced hum cancels out. They can be wired in parallel for a semi-single coil sound but still humbucking also. When tapped for single coil operation they no longer are humbucking so you'll get noise like a regular single coil.
