Death metal using Soldano Hot Rod 50+ any thoughts?
Not familiar with Soldano. The only thing I know about is the SLO100 which is also a bank breaker...I might have found a pretty good deal on a used HR50+ just not sure can this thing do
heavey metal
.
Any comments are welcome
Thanks guys

If you can't make a Hot Rod do metal, you're using it wrong
A lot of guys tend to use a boost pedal either distortion or overdrive with the Hot Rods, not to add more gain so much as to tighten up the low end to a more "metal" tone.

It should have enough gain. I'd try putting graphic EQ in the loop for more control

I had an HR-50+ ,,,now I'm a SLO player,,,and I'd recommend a Soldano to anyone for any kind of music. You could use a good clean boost to hit the front end a bit more if you want extreme gain.....worst case scenario...you'll be a death metal guitarist with amazing, harmonic rich, 3D tone!

Thanks for the response guys. I appreciate that.
I'm more into tight, musical distorted rhythm tone. Just not sure whether the HR50 can handle that kinda gain without a stomp pedal.
BTW has anyone around here used both VHT Pittbull 50cl and Soldano HR50? How do you compare them, gain-wisely?

The Soldano won't do the level of gain you want without a boost pedal. With the Avenger I had, if the gain was past 6 it got very cloudy and and loose sounding.
Otherwise, when boosted it sounded great.
Here's a clip.
My amp's settings are shown along with the boost pedal and it's settings.

That sounds fantastic dude! I really love your tone.
I'm not sure how a Avenger compared to a HR50 though...

I believe the HR50 is very similar to the Avenger. The only difference is the HR is two channel and has an effects loop.

^^^^^not sure if the hot rod is 2 channel. I though it was only one.
The Hot Rod is the only amp I have ever played that makes me sound good no matter what I play.
You need this amp in your life.
