Diezel vs Mesa

Hey guys,

I was wondering what your opinions are on this.

FORGETTING any price difference e.t.c. What do you feel has the best all round sound - Mesa Dual Rec or Diezel VH4?

???

Re: Diezel vs Mesa

I haven't tried the VH4. But I know I really liked the Herbert, although the name is weird. And for me it was better than a Mesa Dual Rec, then again I don't like most Mesa amps.

Not really a helpful answer... Sorry.

From everything I've heard, the Diezel beats it hands down. Though I wouldn't throw away a Mesa if it was handed to me

Re: Diezel vs Mesa

My Mesa wasn't handed to me...

I was not able to test drive a Diezel. A day does not pass that I am not astounded by my Mesa's tone - it's not all in my fingers you know... Having purchased a rect-o-Verb I am missing out on the added channels of a dual or triple recto...

Re: Diezel vs Mesa

It's bizzare. In England i can get a Diezel VH4 and Diezel 4x12 cab, for morealess the same price as the Dual Recto and Mesa 4 x 12.

To be honest i think they're both great and have a problem choosing between the two. They both have their own gd points and bad.

I like the fact that if a tube blows on the Diezel it can carry on going. But i prefer the traditional footswitch with solo boost you get on a mesa as opposed to the Diezel which requires a midi-switching device.

Yeah, the Diezel amps are meant to be amazing! I havent tried one yet, but I would love to. Especially in an "open" space where you can give it some welly! They are quite pricey though arent they. Between the two brands, I have heard that Diezel are better. Alot of bands are preffering them now too, including Metallica, Slipknot, Korn.......they cant be too wrong!

Metallica / Slipknot / Korn.........

All of them have a tone that just plain sucks in my opinion.....

Wes Borland recently switched from Mesa to Deizel and his tone has never sounded better.

Though the main thing that attracts me to the Deizels is the versatility compared to Mesas (other than the Road King of course). To be honest, I've heard great things from both Mesa and Deizel.

lol, which is probly why ull never buy a dual rec or VH4... too each his own..
but hey the bright side of it... instead of paying 1600 for a triple rec we can pay 4500 for a diezel!

Re: Diezel vs Mesa

Having only owned Mesa gear I cannot say I know anything about the Diezel stuff, but ignorance is bliss, I never find myself wanting anythng my existing gear can't do.
I've been venturing outside my normal tones lately for a change and must say that some of the older style Mark modes in the Triaxis are wickedly good. I came up with a pretty good Eric Johnson sound using a fuzzier Mark I sound, with lowered gain settings. Either way, I think if you have the coin to drop on either brand, & if you know what you're looking for, you'll find it.

Tone is very illusive sometimes and you can find it in some strange places.

Re: Diezel vs Mesa

I've been pretty underwhelmed by the Rectos, so maybe take a look at a Nomad or a Road King? Both struck me as far more flexible than the dual and triple rectifiers, and I swear by my Nomad- it can do the recto crunch, but has some absurdly good dark, smooth, singing lead sounds on tap too.

Re: Diezel vs Mesa

Ok, thanks guys. I tried the mesa yesterday and really liked channel 3, it was extremely brutal. However, as i can get the Diezel and the Mesa for the same price im going to go with the Diezel, it had some AMAZING tones and massive versatility.

Thanks for the help!

Hey, just out of curiosity, how much does the Diezel cost in GBP over there?
