Differece in Line 6 Products - I tried a Pod Pro and the Flx

*I currently own a Pod pro and go into a peavey 50/50 power amp and i get an awesome tone ( just wish it had a parametric eq ) well, i went into a mars and tried out the normal settings i use on my pod on a Flextone 2 head and it sounded like sh*t
( i did have my guitar with me ). i don't know, but aren't the patches from one device supposed to sound the same on the next?? i thought it was the speakers, but then i tried the pod into the same cabinet with a solid state poweramp though, and still major difference, i gues the power section affects the tone alot. well after all that i just decided to find a good sound on the head and i did, i got a great INSANE( pun intended ) sound with the chorus and delay and that sound that is soo tight ( i play a 7 string ) and awesome for the really heavy death metal stuff i do cannot be found on the pod!!! now i don't know what i want, either the head or the pod!!! cause the head has a great rhythm sound but the pod leads are the greatest. what do u think??

I have to say that I tried the POD Pro and hated it. Then I got the Flextone II HD and fell madly in love - go figure. In my oppinion there is a difference but that also depends on the other equipment or periferals that you are using.

Good luck,

I had a Pod Pro(until today) and I still have a Flextone II XL. *I have no problems getting great tones out of either one, but the power amp does play a big part in the tone. *
I was running the Pod Pro into a mesa 2:90 with a dual recto 4x12. *It sounded great at low to medium volumes, but when I turned it up it got super bright. *I might have been able to remedy that situation but , I ended up trading it for an H&K Access preamp. *I also bought a mesa triaxis. *Between those 2 pre's I should be able to get a ton of sounds!
I still use my Flextone just as much. *That's my portable guitar rig, which I think sounds killer. *

Just think, with technology today, how much better amps are going to get! * .....can't wait to hear the new Line6 Vetta, and the VOX modeler!

I'm not sure on this so don't crucify me if I'm incorrect...

Maybe the default settings on the cab and mic placements are different on the different units as people buying a head would likely have a different signal path than those buying a POD or the POD Pro. All the defaults for cab emulation, presence settings, boost settings, mic placements, etc would have to be identical as each affects the tone to a significant degree. *Again, just speculation...It would be interesting to take each unit, bone stock out of the box and plug it up to the SoundDiver software to really see if everything was identical.

*I think that before i start to go selling my pod i think i'll wait to see about the Vetta, cause the global controls and the added effects are just mouth watering
