Digi Valve FX vs. Single Rect

Hey guys,

Here's the question...

I have recently gotten into rack equipment and have a BBE Sonic Maximizer and Korg Rack tuner on the way. I plan to get a juice goose. I also have from a while ago a Digitech Valve FX. It only has one 12AX7 as you all know. My question is should i go ahead and get a power amp and complete the rig or just use the mesa single rect with the rack tuner, sonic max., and power supply?

Which do you think will give better tone?

Re: Digi Valve FX vs. Single Rect

power amps (especially mesas) can get to be as much as some amp heads. I thought about buying a mesa quad pre-amp but then went looking at power amps and i could buy a used dual recto for the same price as the pre amp and a mesa power amp . mesa isn't the only that makes power amps there are cheaper ones but still to me it is less trouble to have the head instead of pre amp power . plus with a head there is less to go wrong .

go solo , you can always use the 50 as a slave and run a pre amp through it later

Re: Digi Valve FX vs. Single Rect

So i just plugged the valve fx up.

I definitely like the mesa better.

When the BBE and KORG gets here i'm going to get a juice goose as previously stated and maybe a nice effects unit to complete a 4 space mini rack. Then should i run that in the loop or out in front of the mesa?
