Dimarzio clip lock question
I just got myself a RG 1077 XLRB and I want to put a
Dimarzio clip lock strap
on it (black). The screws you get for the strap can they be directly replaced with the strap pin and screw from the guitar or do I need wood filler or similar.
Regards
André

You can just put the new screws in. They are a little longer than the stock screws as I recall, so if you want to be safe you can predrill the holes a little deeper, but it isn't really necessary since they're only a little longer and the risk of splitting the wood is pretty minimal.

Do a search on the forums for more info, but the screws on Ibanez strap pins no longer fit through Dimarzio clip locks.

Algiman don't you get screws for the clip lock system when you buy a
Dimarzio clip lock
strap? Since when do they not fit anymore, my guitar is a 2002 model.

You do get screws with them. The usual thing to do though was just to use the screws from the guitar as they are exactly right for the holes you are about to put them back into. You can't do that any more because one of the companies (Ibanez I think) changed the size of the screws. Some people have managed to force the guitar's screws through the strap, some people find they cant.
Lots of discussions about this:

for example. There are lots more.

i baught a new Jem this year and i got the Dimarzio
clip lock strap
, the screws fit just fine and haven't had a problem... the Ibanez screws are thicker than the ones that come with the strap, but it seems to be working just fine.

The screws that came with my cliplok were very slightly too small for the holes on my 02 RG. I just coated them with wood glue and stuck them in. I imagine this won't be permanent, but hey I don't throw my guitar around my neck anyway.
The Ibanez screws are indeed too wide for the cliplock hole and metal thingie.

I really wouldnt worry at all, just use the screws they come with and drill them in. It would hardly ever ever split. I dont see the worry.
The only thing I get is where the screw doesnt tighten, it stays loose. The simple and easy way to fix this is to put a ****tail stick down the hole, and then tighten up the screw.
A simple and easy fix, but that wasnt what you were asking I dont think!

This is what I did. Force out those brass rings in the clips with a screwdriver, and then use the stock guitar screws with those plastic washers (the ones that came with the strap) placed right under the screw head. Order goes as this Screwhead>plastic washer>clip>guitar body. Worked wonders for me. I've gigged like this, threw my guitar around, and NO problems whatsoever.

I just drilled the brass piece out on the
DiMarzio strap
slightly so the Ibanez screws fit. Easy and secure fix.
