Re: Dimarzio X2N
Well i personally think the X2N has more bass than treble (dimarzio say its has more treble). It's a very powerful pickup and will distort your amp easy if you're going for that kind of thing. Has some good clarity too. The guitarist from symphony X uses it so listen to some of their songs for a faint idea

X2N Showcase
'
Everthing is X2N in the bridge... done with an Ibanez S520EX, going thru a TS9DX, Boss SD2 (lead channel) and into a Roland Microcube, line in to pc.
Have fun!

Re: Dimarzio X2N
Dude, that clip made me regret not buying the 570 w/ the X2N that I saw about a month ago
. That opening reminds me a bit of Vai, but didn't he use an X2N at some point?

Yeah, the
bridge pup
on the Green Meanie was an X2N. Used with Zappa and DLR.

Re: Dimarzio X2N
Hey, thanks for the kind words Kamikaze... but I hope the clip is an accurate representation of the prowress of the X2N.
Its got this... special-ness that comes with the pure power it has... Thing is that I want my only electric (the S520EX) to be uber versatile, hence I decided to take it out... don't get me wrong, the X2N can do other stuff, but for versatility's sake, I would go for something else, like a Breed neck in
bridge position
.

Re: Dimarzio X2N
would the contrast of the x2n in the bridge and an
air norton
in the neck be a good combo?
the x2n has an output rating of 510
the air norton has an out put rating of 270
thats a diffrence of 240
that is alot. but.....
In my
yjm strat
i have a dimarzio fast track 2 in the bridge with an out put rating of 321
in the neck i have the yjm dimarzio and it out put is rated at 93
with a diffrence of 228 and the compliment each other very well!!!
Im hoping for the same results. Anyone have any insite for me?

Re: Dimarzio X2N
It will work fine. You can balance the volume on clean with no problem. The real issue is just when you are playing with the X2N.. you have full gain/power, but when you switch to the Air Norton, the saturation/gain will drop a notch or 2.
Not a big issue, only obvious if you are playing with light distortion/od, but who does that with an X2N?!? Medium distortion... its drop in saturation can be felt by the player, but sound wise, its not very noticable. Hi gain? It doesn't matter.
Btw, I balanced a Humbucker From Hell (226mA) with the X2N before. Thats an additional 50mA difference when compared to X2N and AN!

Re: Dimarzio X2N
i put an x2n in my S too and i put a push pull pot so i coil tap it.. sounds amazing i even put the treble bleed mod on the volume pot makes it so versatile i can make it sound like a strat play some funk and i can make the thing sound like all sorts of things thanks to the coil tap and the treble bleed. its a very versatile pickup you just need to play around with it to get different sounds. at the same time i like heavy chugging guitars and can really scream when you hit those pinch harmonics it definitely does the job. i am glad i installed it.

Check out my Jemsite official review in the reviews section--sound clips are there. It's a great pickup for clear high-gain settings.
