Downloading patches to an effects unit

At the risk of sounding like an idiot, how the hell is it done?
What cables are needed, where to plug them in, etc etc.

I've seen a few websites that have patches available for the unit I've got, but I've not a clue how to get them in the machine. *(ART SGX2000E)

i've never done it but i would have thought that all communication is done via MIDI.

Connected the midi out of your soundcard/interface to the midi in of the fx unit and a way you go !
