DR strings
Has anyone else had an issue with their Tite-Fit string sets? Specifically, strings that are beyond allowing for proper intonation?
After having utilized both D'addario and
Ernie Ball
strings for several years, I chose to give the DR's Tite-Fit 9-42 a shot. After having purchased 6 sets of these strings, and in using only two sets, I find that the A' 0.32 strings will not intonate properly...regardless of the guitar they are installed on. To properly intonate these strings would require the bridge saddle to be placed either too far forward, or backward, both beyond the limitation of adjustment. I spoke to a couple DR representatives regarding this, and they both happily obliged in providing support for this issue by sending replacement strings. Unfortunately, the replacements I received had the same issue. So, for now...I've posted the remaining sets on the bay and have reverted back to using D'addario and
Ernie Balls
.
Just thought I would share my experience. I had hopes that I had found the "Holy Grail" of strings, but unfortunately this set was not it.

Re: DR strings
I had this happen on two sets out of probably a thousand or so.Too bad that happened to you so soon.I really like the strings.I had a bad d' string and an a' string. This was several years ago.No problems since.

So your going to sell some unsuspecting buyer who want some strings defective strings? In other words instead of either returning them for a possible refund or doing the right thing your going to screw someone else so YOU don't lose out?

Re: DR strings
I hate DR's with a passion. I bought four sets of Black Bueaties 10's and had it setup by my tech who always does a good job and I even check everything to make sure its intonated on my jem. after two hours of playing after stretching the strings out as usual, the high e string broke. I placed another high e string and it broke again. I checked my guitar's bridge and nothing seems to be of issue at all. and it didn't intonate properly on the A string. I was horrified I spent $40 on 4 sets. I Placed a set of d'addario high e string and didn't have an issue and switched the A string with a spare d'addario and didn't have a problem with them. Ugly looking because the coating chipped off and mixed strings. I didn't even bother with the last set. I threw it out.
DR got into the business of string making by purchasing 60 old school hand guided string winding machine from the 1960's. and their gimmick is "handmade coated strings" and colored strings.
The tone sucked. it was lifeless.
I thought I'd never go back to coated ever again until I tried Elixirs. Best strings I've used out of the 50+ brands I've used in the past. Nice bright tone,
good smooth feel and it doesn't sound dead after a couple weeks like my Ernie Balls and D'Addario's.
I use the heavies so they hardly break and they stay intonated well with a tight tension feel just the way I like it.

Re: DR strings
Cosmic,
The strings have a reasonable reserve price set. I've informed DR regarding the sell of the strings, they manufactured them, and they can gladly buy them back. Seeming that I reside 75+ miles away from the place of purchase, returning them is not an option. Your assumptions make an ASS out of U and ME.
In addition, what you are implying is....that ALL DR strings are crap? Meaning, that all of the replacement strings that I have received, in addition to the several unopened packages that I have purchased....you can foresee that all of these items are defective? I admit, the possibility is there, but if they do so happen to be defective, seeming that these strings stem from three separate runs that I am aware of, DR's awful consistent in manufacturing and distributing defective strings. I'm not going to open every package and install each set in an attempt to determine if that is the case.
P.S. I hope that I have your approval
Your secret admirer,
DarthLamer
XOXOXOXO

Re: DR strings
You sir are selling a known defecting set of strings. You make no mention in your **** listing as to the problems YOU have had with them. You are selling them as there are no issues what so ever with them.
Instead of doing the honorable thing and taking the loss yourself and dealing with the problem yourself you are passing it along to a potential buyer without full disclosure. Everyone has to bite the bullet in life. Nope not you m8. You stepped aside and will let it hit someone else. Price is irrelevant in this case.
Your post says it all and call me an ass if you like I don’t care. You are a liar and scammer.

I have never used DR strings so I can't attest to thier worth. I am only pointing out that you are passing along YOUR problem to someone esle without telling them the problmes you had with them. You said the replacements had the same problem. You forget that little part my friend. Your words not mine.
Do the right thing and don't pass on this problem to someone else without disclosing the problems you have had. Remove the listing, toss them in the trash, cosider this a lesson learned, and have a clear conscious.
If you say screw it then you are ****.

Re: DR strings
I only use DR 7 string sets on my 7's, and other than once getting a bronze string in a pack I've had no issues whatsoever.

Re: DR strings
You're right Cosmic, maybe due to the fact that the reserve is set so low, out of anger, or just a desire to get my money back from the wasted purchase, It just didn't hit me as to what I was doing until you actually brought up the fact.

I understand fully about the money and absolutly hate throwing money away but it happens sometimes.
One thing, if you drive 75 miles for strings then WTF. The cost of gas to get there regardless of what type of auto you drive would be more then the shipping cost to have them sent to you.
