Dunlop DC brick Issue

I gots a dc brick on sat, but it was the last one so it was the display one... but was never given the power chords, so i had to wait till to today to go and get them, so brought them home and it works alright BUT it doesn't power the pedals to their full capability,

the red LED's on the pedals are not fully lit up, only about half as bright as they are with other power supplies...

I use Mostly Boss effects a dunlop wah and a behringer tube overdrive,

but the overdrive isnt as effective with the dc brick powering it as aposed to a BOSS PSA and a daisy chain, but id imagine the dc brick shud be more than capable of doing so

the 18v outlets work fine powering the pedals, the LED's are fully lit up then

but anyone got any input?

Re: Dunlop DC brick Issue

Im getin a multimeter today, but for now i was lookin at it again... and

it turns out I got a marshall adapter with it, So im thinkin thats the cause of the problem, It says it will work with any adapter within the Voltage or Hz given in the manual... So i tried my Boss PSA adapter, - same thing happened... still not 100% powered... But i did never get the proper adapter stated. SO!

Do you think it was being used with the marshall adapter and it has damaged the brick in any way due to the difference in voltages maybe?

or am i talking nonsence

Hmm anyone got any ideas?

Re: Dunlop DC brick Issue

I almost had to buy the display power brick from guitar center myself. Except they spent over a hour trying to get it off their display because it was bolted down. I never even said I wanted the display one but they sure as hell thought they were going to give it to me. Needless to say I walked out, drove home and ordered it from z-z-o-u-n-d-s that night. I didn't want their display model that I know had been on almost 24/7 for months.

if they cant find the adapter tomorrow, ill either get a brand new one or get a refund

i was gona order it on the net, but i didnt want a 2 pin European adapter as aposed to the Uk 3 pin plug just for the extra convienience...

Re: Dunlop DC brick Issue

Hey Al.

I had similar probs with a DC brick bout a year ago. Very temperamental and noisy. Sold it within a month.

I have been looking for a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 + but it's almost impossible to get them here in Australia.

I have ordered one of these instead...

http://www.diago.co.uk/pedal-power/p.../overview.html

The available power, compact size and money back guarantee if you're not happy are what sold me. Plus they give you a power supply cord so that it is compatible for your country's voltage. It's due to arrive next week.

Re: Dunlop DC brick Issue

Get a Monster surge protecto and plug the brick into it. Before you do that, try plugging the brick into a different outlet. You may not be getting a strong enough signal going into the brick, hence the drop in voltage.

I would have the store order you a brand new one. Don't ever buy stuff from the display, ESPECIALLY in a music store.

Re: Dunlop DC brick Issue

yup i know all to well,

and is een that diago thing the other day somsone else recomended them they look good, but its more daisy chain i needed the individual pedal cords as of ease for wiring under the board... I could power them all now thru one boss psa and 2 daisy chains but i opted for the dc brick way, which wud be great if it worked... But the adapter was the problem.

I went in today, cant find the adapter...

cudnt get a refund since there wasnt enough in the till... which didnt matter in the end since no shops had them in stock... SO...

So ive to wait a week for a new one

I LOVE IRISH MUSIC SHOPS

But ill exchange it for a brand new one next week

But the trip wasnt all to crappy... i picked up this guitar for 70 bucks, i shud have some fun messing with it.. hendirx style, ill have ****e upper fret acces but ah well i just wanted the neck really it was beautifull, but got the body in the end, it looked so lonely sittin there
