Egnator Rebel 20

Has anyone had a chance to check these out yet? The price is right on par with the Tiny Terror and it has some features that seem pretty cool. There is a knob to blend the 6L6s and EL34s and another knob to change the output to anywhere between 1 and 20 watts.
Maybe I will pass on the 50th Anniv Explorer and get this instead.

It looks too good to be true. But it's probably pretty cool.

Thats pretty much where I am with it. I know Egnator is supposed to make great amps, and this one being a low wattage head really has me interested.

Didn't you used to own a tiny terror? End up getting rid of it?

You should go for it. You can't go wrong with plenty of knobs to twist.

Re: Egnator Rebel 20

I've had one for a month. This things rocks big time.It is loud enough for gigging and has excellent tone. The gain will do 80s metal easily. It sounds so good I haven't been using any effects with it.I use my volume knob and pickup selector to get a passable clean.I have been using it through a bogner 4x12 at rehearsal and have the watts at 8 and the master at 11:00 and its plenty loud.I prefer the tube mix a little on the 6v6 side.Excellent bang for the buck.I'm truly impressed. And it is nice and light. My main rig is a custom audio od50 standard plus, but I could easily gig with the rebel.

Re: Egnator Rebel 20

We just got the Tiny Terror combo locally. They paired it with a nice cab and speaker. The lack of channel switching makes it unusable for me. But I love the gain.

Re: Egnator Rebel 20

That is for sure one of my next purchases! I played one last weekend at the local Guitar Center and I loved it! I tried a PRS Single Cut Trem thru it & yes kids it rocked. Then I tried a PRS Custom 22 and PRS Mira and a PRS Swamp Ash (Yea I like PRS) and a American Standard Tele with a Bigsby and yes even an American Deluxe Strat. Also a Schecter Hellraiser 7 and a Hello Kitty Squire! They all kicked ass thru that amp! And that little amp has all the features that Id need.

All Tube
6V6 and EL84s (I love both!)
1 channel!
1-20 watts which is perfect for low volume jamming wit my hommies or for recording.
Effects Loop! Thats a must have for me!
Its well under $1000.00
And it only weighs like 15 LBS!
Its got Groove Tubes and those are good, but Im thinking Ill prob order some tubes from Eurotubes since JJ's are the best tubes ever!

Re: Egnator Rebel 20

Tried out a Rebel 20 and Rebel 50 at the Ampshow a month or so ago and it's funny how you mention the Orange Tiny Terror in the same thread as these two companies were a few doors away from each other...
I met US Product Manager John Ewing who explains the Rebel 20's features which have been posted by others: it's a single channel amp with 6v6/el-84 blend, effects loop, 1 - 20W. These are MIC (just like the TT's) but quality control and product inspection is handled at their headquarters 15 minutes away from where i'm at. I definitely like how the amp sounded when the blend's at at 5 @10w.
I think it also comes with a gig bag as well.
I personally would take a modded TT [The Holy Terror] though as I dig the Orange voicing much more. However, the usable features on the Rebel 20 is worthwhile.

Can it pull of a good metal tone?

Rock on!

Sure... not over-the-top gain like an Engl or Mesa but more towards like a hot-rodded Marshall-like tone.

Re: Egnator Rebel 20

I got a chance to play through one and it is definitely cool. You can get a wide range of sound, and even a good distortion at low volume.

Re: Egnator Rebel 20

The new issue of Premier Guitar has a nice review of this amp...they give it very high marks and declared it quite versatile...everything from blues to metal. Now I don't know about that, but for the price they're asking for these things, I'm thinking about picking one up on general principle.
