Ernie Ball Coated Electric Titanium RPS strings

Has anyone tried these new EB strings that are coated (I assume like Elixirs) and are reinforced with Titanium? If you have what did you think? Are they worth the price as far as coated strings go? Do you use them with your trem, how did it work out?

What about rust and tone, you know, string life? Ihaven't broken a string in years so I'm not so worried about that.

Re: Ernie Ball Coated Electric Titanium RPS strings

Well its crazy humid here so I am sure it helps a lot more in humid regions. I break strings about every 2-3 months, sometimes they are 1 month. I play a lot though and I use my whammy and bend a lot like Im SRV x Vai.

I meant that I haven't put them on since I haven't broken my strings yet. I have them in their package still haha.

I was going to give these a try but IIRC the unwound strings aren't coated. I'll stick to Elixirs

Re: Ernie Ball Coated Electric Titanium RPS strings

Just researched it. Only the wound strings are coated. The reinforced strings are the plain strings. So they're coating the wounds reinforcing the unwounds and claiming it adds life. I don't know if the titanium adds life or not, I'm sure it adds strenght, but I'll go to Elixirs.

Re: Ernie Ball Coated Electric Titanium RPS strings

I tried the Titanium things and switched back to DR extra's (which are also far superior to Elixir in my opinion) two weeks later. They corrorded faster than any strings I've ever used (including normal Ernie Balls which I used for 9-10 years) and they sounded totally jank to my ears. Felt okayisk but not as nice as the DRs and since the DRs cost less seemed like a no brainer to me.

I don't like elixirs at all, Dr's are alright but I'll stick to Ernie Ball. (for my Ibanezes at least, the others are a different story)

Re: Ernie Ball Coated Electric Titanium RPS strings

Why are all the DR extra strings in colors? I don't want colored strings.

Re: Ernie Ball Coated Electric Titanium RPS strings

Okay, now that I have delved deep into the string manufacturing market, I have found the answer. The New EB coated electric strings, are all coated (all 6 strings), and the top three unwound strings are additionally reinforced by titanium. See the EB forum and read the responces to the questions by the EB employees.

http://www.ernieball.com/forums/erni...c-strings.html

I have to say though, the press release and statements were unclear about which strings were coated and so on. I'm gonna give these a whirl.

Silver Stars? Unless you've been playing with bronze strings on your electric they look like normally strings.

Re: Ernie Ball Coated Electric Titanium RPS strings

Yes they do. And I personally love that but I imagine that they sell as much of the Silver Stars as all the other colours combined.
