EVH Phase 90

i just saw an ad for a candy striped version with the EVH logo. due to be realesed in Oct., it has an extra button and the new cosmetics, but i haven't been able to find a price or even find out what the extra button does. this might be interesting as i use the Phase 90 A LOT. i play some of those old VH songs (and yes, i have my own "attempt" at Eruption ) and i find some really cool uses for it in other songs. it is my fav effect and seems to be a staple for keeping the bar patrons on the dance floor (which in turn makes the bar more money and in the end - so do i ).
anybody hear any other info on this new version of a great pedal?

Sorta related question:

in the song "Unchained" there's a very prominent effect that sounds sort of like a flanger or a phaser (except like the best flanger ever, like what a regular flanger is trying to sound like,) but seems like the the TAB I've seen (from Guitar For The Practicing Musician) notates it as being done with only pick slides... and when I attempt to do that, I can sorta get a fair approximation, and bonus that there's no worries about getting the phaser or flanger's rising and falling in sync, 'cause there isn't any flanger....) but I read an interview with EVH and he said something about using an MXR Phase 90 "now that we're doing some old tunes like Unchained..." or something like that, so then that made me think mayber there is a phaser in there after all.

So, is that effect in Unchained done by a flanger or phaser? Or is it done with pick slides? Or maybe it's done with both at the same time?

Just something I've been wondering for a long time.

(Maybe the extra button starts the thing at the beginning of it's rising (or falling) cycle so you can get it into sync with the music? Or a tap tempo type thing? Just a wild guess.) Edit: I see now that's not what the button does.

i never had to play Unchained in a band - so i never had to look at it so closely. i would guess it to be a Phase 90, but i may have to give it a spin again and listen for it.
the link on the Line 6 forum shows a rating - if the pedal doesn't come out for at least 4-6 weeks from now, how can they rate the sound? maybe they aren't rating it - i didn't follow up in the forum. i emailed Dunlop and got the same info that has been shared here.
i look forward to trying it out - i would like to get a poster of the ad in Guitar One (Oct '04) that i originally saw it in. they didn't say anything to my question about getting a poster for the pedal or sending them to dealers.
i figure if it is $189 list, then maybe it will hit the street at $129 - still a little pricey - good thing i work at a music store!

I just found it on a site, it is $129! I just picked up a Phase 90 at GC the other week for $59. I love Eddie (I own two Wolfie's) but I'm pretty sure the EVH one isn't worth $70 more.

As far as Unchained, it is Flanger and slight pick scraping. Check out this site www.guitarwizardjfrocks.com if you really want to dive into getting Eddie's style and sound down.
