Listened to the first demo track, "Not Enough." Underimpressed... He's really only laying random pitches over the top of the chord progression on an overdubbed track, and his intonation's a bit iffy. It's nothing you couldn't do with a Whammy pedal, and your intonation would be better, too. Hell, i've gotten similar effects from a slide.

hmmm... still trying to figure out how to navigate through the site. The website is horribly done. However, I find the product interesting - now if I can just find out more details on the thing and these audio examples I'm sure I'll have a stronger opinion about it.

Found the audio clips. NOT IMPRESSED with the tunes and what this thing does in the samples. I think this guy needs to get decent recordings and a decent website and better examples of the product if he wants to sell them.

Based on what I heard and saw, I would not buy one.

You can almost accomplish the same thing just by positioning your pickups correctly. You can just jam strings down so they fret out on either the edge of the pickup or the pole pieces. Works especially well on a middle-position humbucker... vintage style ones with metal covers and/or slot-head screw-type pole pieces work nicely.

I agree about the samples, and the site design. However i think it could be used for a lot more. I especially like the "whammy bar type"

And the best part about a middle position pickup used in that manner, darren, is that you can vary the pitch of the note by varying the pressure you're holding the string down with. You can get some crazy high-pitched bending sounds that way.

Still doesn't change the fact that i'm not fully convinced of this thing's ability to intonate correctly, it looks ugly as hell, and you can get the same effect (with a much better crowd response) out of an empty beer bottle or shot glass. Hell, with an Edge trem, you can just rip out the whammy bar and use THAT.

And i can't take anyone seriously who goes by the nickname "Fret" because he invented an "extra fret" device. That's borderline OCD.

I agree! If you were standing in the front row during the Ultra Zone tour and Eric Sardinas opened - you were lucky not to be drenched in beer from the bottles he shook up and used for a slide. It was really cool!

Or use a thimble. Ron Thal uses one with great intonation. Even I can get some good stuff with it. It's cheap and easy to use.
