Fender Eric Johnson Signature Strat

Hello, a friend of mine has one of these for sale, I have yet to try it plugged in.. I am aware that it has a tree-like neck, but I would like to know if any of you own one/ have ever played one.. I am curious about the pickups.. are they noiseless? I know they are a mix of diff strat pickups.

Re: Fender Eric Johnson Signature Strat

Tree like neck? It's a soft V shape, not that big compared to other models.

The pickups are non-noiseless. I like the Eric Johnson a lot, but if you want a traditional Strat-feeling and sounding guitar, the Mayer is the way to go, IMO.

But I'd take the EJ in a heartbeat, especially if your more accustomed to "shred" guitars and necks. The flatter radius is a nice thing too. It's also got a thin nitrocellulose finish (instead of polyurethanes), just like they used on the old Strats.

Re: Fender Eric Johnson Signature Strat

One of the best Strats out there. This is third on my list of guitar stuff to buy (behind a new amp and possibly a JEM).

Tone, tone, tone. This thing is a monster. The neck is amazing, it's a soft-V. The pickups aren't that bad actually, they're really nice. And if you REALLY don't like them, why not swap them out in the end? I'm sure any EJ fan would kill to have the EJ pickups anyway.

Go for it, it's an amazing guitar. If you don't buy it, how much is he selling it for?

I played one and even though I'm not big on a single coil in the bridge I loved the guitar. I would own one without a second thought if the opportunity presented itself. I saw one on clearance for $1249 at one of the online stores and it was difficult to NOT hit the "add to cart" button. I'm waiting for NAMM before I pull the trigger on my next axe.

Re: Fender Eric Johnson Signature Strat

I sold mine because I didnt like the neck as much as I should, but the sound was awesome. I'm tempted to gp tp the bay and drop some money on the electronics of a parted out EJ for the Strat I have now, but $300 is too much
