I just needed something different. The JSX is still a great amp. But the Fender suits a need I currently have. And unlike some others around here, and you know who you are!!, I don't really like to have a bunch of different gear hogging up my house.

Re: Fender Super Sonic Review...

PLEASE tell me that th 1x12 is enough. Ive got it hard for a SuperSonic but I dont like like the fact that it only has 1x12.

I suppose I can always get an extention speaker.... making it more versatile in the mean time....

Nevermind I think I talked myself into it.

Re: Fender Super Sonic Review...

Darin I need to warn you.. it could just be my amp, but since I bought it, If I turn it up even remotely loud (dirty channel gets loud around 5) it sounds like absolute crap.. you need to turn it up some.. even running a 412 cab w/ it does not make it very loud, its something in the amplifier and its not a bad speaker.. If you run the sonic as a preamp into another amp, it sounds phenomenal, and the problem immediately goes away.. this is a nice sounding amp, especially if you like a smooth dirty channel... BUTTTTT, if you think it sounds best loud (like some say about fender amps) you are in for a surprise... I am praying that it is just my amp, and that yours isn't bad too, but I have read a lot of bad reviews about the amp.. Crank it up a bit and see if it craps out on you.. If it does, you might wanna return it :S

Nice playing shogun! Those were some scary lines! What guitar were you using?

I've always enjoyed the tone I get out of the Supersonic at stores. It's usually my "demo" amp to test guitars on, as it sounds good at low volumes.

Re: Fender Super Sonic Review...

since I'm always mic'd. low level smooth gain is important. I don't turn up loud very often. I have to retrieve my mic later today to record it. I love it so far. It takes a BD-2 very well. I still think the bd2 is one of the best pedels. I also find myself playing my tele mostly, and the fender seems to favor the tele a bit more than the jsx. but it's got the nice soupy smooth gain.

I remember you talking about playing your amp at a low volume and having in ear monitors and such.. if this is the case, this amp may be PERFECT for you. its VERY versatile, and i NEED to stop using CAPS as soon as POSSIBLE

for tests sake, can you crank up the dirty and say if it g@y's up like I described?

Thanks, and I was using a MMJP (2005?) w/ an ibanez tone lok tube screamer as the gain boost. After trying some other stuff, I found using my sparkle drive as a clean boost much more tasty for boosting the gain, there was no cut in the bottom end.

Re: Fender Super Sonic Review...

I'm assuming that this (like any other fender) has a Linear taper pot for the master volume. Does anyone know if this is true?
