Fender Supersonic Clips

Hey.. I just got the fender supersonic 112 combo 2 weeks ago.. I bought it for practice, and smaller gigs (churches, coffee shops, blues gigs)

So far I am lovin it.. ive only REALLY had it crankin once or twice so far.. but It is capable of a lot.. I played it against a 100watt tube half stack and it kept up with ease.. the headroom wasnt there, but it was loud!

clean channel - bassman voicingl is great for jazz and blues and breaks up fairly quick.. vibroloux voicing soudns thin at first,, but if you crank the bass and suck the highs.. it sounds great.. a good clean channel over all..

dirty - the best sound i have got is a halfway gained tone.. this is by FAR the best sounding dirty channel that fender has came out with,, better then the new twin-amp even.. you can get anything from SRVish crunch, to all out high gain distortion..

this amp is 60 watts.. 2 6l6 power tubes.. EIGHT preamp tubes.. fx loop has send n recieve levels so you can use it as a solo boost via the footswitch..

Here are some clips I recorded the other day (1st take improv.)

both clips were recorded with an sm57 into a crappy soundcard on my pc.. no eq'ing or editing of any kind.. the 57 was placed on a carpet floor about 6 inches infront of the amp.. i used a MM John Petrucci on both..

clip 1: the mid gained setting i discussed.. ibanez tonelok delay in the loop

clip 2:same setting except with an ibanez tonelok ts7 to boost the gain..

i know these clips arent that clear or great of any kind.. just figured I would help out anyone interested in this amp.. a head version is also available..

Re: Fender Supersonic Clips

That amp rules. I'm the happy owner of a JSX, but if they had had the Super Sonic there when I bought the JSX, it would have been a tough choice. I simply love the Super Sonic. Thanks for posting the clips. Players that like high gain tube amps usually overlook the Fenders, with good reason. The Super Sonic is Fenders amp for guys like us. Anyone in the market should consider one.

Nice chops as well.

Re: Fender Supersonic Clips

nice clips. thanks.

congrats on the amp.

i fell in love with those amps too until i realized they were copying what Mesa has been doing for many, many years: dual cascading gain. that in itself is kinda funny since Mesa originally copied what Fender was doing with the cleans to begin with.
i still love them but i read a ton of reviews (always take them with a grain of salt) from people who had issues with theirs in the quality control dept. i've always been a Fender guy when it comes to clean tones ('65 Deluxe Reverb 1x12 is one of my main amps) and when Fender FINALLY started this line i was very impressed and glad to see i might get a nice clean amp with amazing gain for such a nice price point, until i tried the Mesa F-50.

i still love the tones it is capable of but i tried it next to the comparably priced Mesa F-50 ($1100), and i'm now going with the new version of the F-50, the Express 5:50, for the same price as the SuperSonic (the SuperSonic went up $100 this year but still matches the 5:50's price - $1199).

if anyone has a dealer that works on Fender amps near them, i would still recommend the SS amp for the price and tones it is capable of but i would still say try the Express 5:50 too.

just my 2cents.
