So work took me to Phoenix and I was done early so I struck out looking at pawn shops. I ran across one that had Krank revolution
with matching cab. Turns out it was serial #22.
Right off the bat I understand how people can that they sound buzzy. It is a bit of a balancing act with the presence, highs, and shape knob. After messing around for a few minuets with each control, I found a really awesome tone. To me the krank sounded like you took an orange, and a recto and but them together. Aggressive with a lot of cut but very touch dynamic. It was easy to switch to neck and roll the volume back a bit and clean up the sound in a very usable way.
I grabbed a 7 string and dropped the b to A to see how it handled the low end. I felt it did amazingly well. There was still a lot of clarity. I would love to check out how my carvin dc800 sounds on it.
I would love to have this particular one, It is my understanding that Tony Krank sold out and then quality went to ****. I also know he recently bought his own company back and is back at it making amps his way.
I like the Krank for nothing more than it is different. It is abrasive, but still musical and has awesome low end clarity.
