Found my next new amp yesterday

Grabbed a cheap Schecter, a cable and spent an hour plugging into just about everything at GC and was disappointed at it all. Gave the JSX another try, liked it, but still wasn't ready to get another one, for the reasons I traded mine away. Couldn't get a fat warm 'just slighty' gainy tone from it. If my FSS had a bit more bite, and some wonk to it it'd be fine. The gain on the FSS is what I like.

This here was the last thing I saw as I was about to walk out. Instantly was impressed. Then within 2 minutes was salivating over the 4 channels and soupy smooth gain. I told him. I'll be back for this baby as soon as I pay my taxes. Now I just need $6000 for my tax bill in 3 weeks!! In a month, I'll be flooding the forum with Egnater clips.

Believe me, it really does sound that good. Don't demo one without your credit card in your hand!

Pretty darn good player demoing the amp along with the Egnater guy himself.

True, it's taking a toll. So I'll only be getting one.

Have you adjusted your spending and driving habits recently?

Either one of them is wrong or you are just not getting it

Maybe you don't get it. For a guitar player, buying an amp is not spending disposable income. It is like buying food.

Yeah--I think my JVM410H could use a few more knobs as well....

Re: Found my next new amp yesterday

I'm mixing a band right now in a club and one guitar player is using a JVM410 combo. Sounds great. I'll be choosing between that and the Egnater.

Re: Found my next new amp yesterday

Hehehe. Let me tell you a little secret. You can have this tone for way less than $1300. Just get an Egnater TOL100 or Egnater IE4. Assuming you can find either of them. Egnater FTW! BTW, there's MICA version of TOL100 on *bay right now, those are overpriced, get the Rocktron version. The differences are:
1. MICA has tube buffered reverb and is built by Egnater himself
2. Rocktron/Egnater reverb is solid state buffered and the amp is built by Rocktron

There's also Rocktron and non-Rocktron version of IE4. According to Bruce, there's no difference tone wise between the two.

Re: Found my next new amp yesterday

Hey Darin, you should try out the Randall MTS series amps or something.

http://www.randallamplifiers.com/pro.../mts/index.asp

you buy modules and load them into the amp... seems like a good idea and sounds like it gets good tones.

Re: Found my next new amp yesterday

That thing can take Egnater modules as well. Though modular head can quickly get out of hand spending-wise. There are lots of modules available.
