G.A.S. Attack Claims Another Victim.... (lots of pics)

So, as I told some of you earlier, I was eagerly awaiting the UPS man to deliver the last piece of gear to complete what I bought last week.

Here's the story:

About a month ago, while doing various types of searches on the bay, I found an ad for a Boss GT-8 that some guy was selling. I have this bad habit of checking out what other things people might be selling. I decided to check out his other items and read the description of another high end processor he had for sale. In the description he mentioned that along with the GT-8 he had for sale, he also had a GT-Pro that he was going to list once his auctions had ended. So I decided to contact him and we started emailing back and forth. The communications dropped a few weeks ago, so I told myself that it was probably not meant to be. Last week, I get an email from the guy and he tells me that he got my messages and he still had the GT-Pro for sale and if I was interested I should call him... Did I mention that he also happened to be local?

So, I called him and the price he wanted couldn't have been better. He sold me the GT-Pro for $450.00. He also told me on the phone that he had a rack that he was trying to get rid of because he didn't need it, so I told him to bring it so I could at least check it out. Well, the rack was almost brand new, he brought the bad of screws and the keys (still in the taped plastic bag), and he told me he could sell me the GT-Pro and the rack for $480.00, so I said "done". The unit couldn't be in better shape (it could pass as a new unit because it has no scratches or anything on it).

I've been a fan of Monster Cable for a long time because I've been pleased with their products for years (mind, you, I have a TON of monster stuff, especially in my home theater), I found a seller on the bay that had the Monster Pro 3500 for a decent price. However, the auction ended, so I decided to check out his website and see if the price was different. I'm glad I did because, the price was cheaper! Try $189.00 for the Monster Pro 3500 plus shipping, which came out to be like $203.00 shipped (inlcuding insurance). The unit is not a refurb or b stock, it's brand spanking new, which is really cool.

So, if anyone is interested in getting one, let me know and I can give you the info.

Here are the pics (hope you enjoy them)..........

What can I say guys, the GT-Pro sounds incredible through my JSX. Aftere doing all the calculations, everything costed me less than what a brand new GT-Pro would cost at GC (about $680.00). So now, I am going to take some suggestions as to what else I should put in that rack aside from a Korg Tuner

Hope you all enjoyed the pics.

Jimmy

P.S.: Do you guys think that I should do the 4 cable method????

hey man

hows the gt-pro?? it's cool that you can edit it using the pc. btw, does it have a built in power amp? cuz it would be pretty sweet just having that and/or a power amp to a cabinet. but then again, it's not gonna have the best distortions, but an awesome amount of effects. i hope you have fun with it, now all you need is a MIDI footswitch

I'll definitely start a thread like Darin's to post some vids and audio once I get the HD Video Camera (I told the wife we needed one for the baby ).

Jim, I was so amazed at how the JSX took the GT-Pro's signal and made the JSX sound even better than before. I gotta tell you, this thing sounds good out of the box.

I think it has the equivalent of the NS-2 in it. I think it has every Boss effet ever made in it if I'm not mistaken. I haven't had time to load the software on my laptop yet b/c of school but, I'm going to do that this weekend and start building patches for it through the GUI.

I definitely think it's time to get rid of my little sabine tuner and step up to a Korg. I was thinking about the 2000 but didn't know if it was worth it or not as opposed to the 1000.

Yoyo, noeither the GT-8 nor the GT-Pro have power amps built-in. Both units are effects processors only and have preamp emulators, which replicate the sound of popular amps and cabs. Perhaps someone misinformed you and told you the wrong thing. Either way, you still need an amplifier to run either box. The only way you'll hear something is if you use headphones while your guitar is plugged into it.

As an FYI, there is 3rd party software you can download for your GT-8 so you can use a GUI instead of going through the unit's menus to create patches. You can find a lot of that info at boss gt central.
